Data Scientist

Job Summary

As a Data Scientist at LawVu, you will be a key member of our expanding AI team, helping us to use AI for legal operations. You will be responsible for building and maintaining our machine learning models, ensuring we use the most effective algorithms and provide practical solutions for our customers.

Internally you will work directly in a team with legal subject matter experts and software engineers, building out the core of our AI engine(s). Your day-to-day will involve transforming data, building models, running experiments and helping to get those models into production environments.  You’ll be able to share your knowledge with the team, the business, and sometimes our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with the team to understand the needs of the legal sector and define appropriate AI solutions.
• Data cleaning and feature transformation on publicly available data and private customer data to prepare it for training and testing ML solutions.
• Designing and building AI / machine learning solutions, end-to-end, in particular using NLP methods such as recurrent neural networks, word embeddings and transformers. 
• Practical testing of AI solutions to ensure results are both accurate and sensible.
• Assist software engineers in moving your solutions into production and maintaining them in the cloud.
• Keep up to date with new developments in AI and propose ways we can leverage them for our customers.
• Share progress and results with our customers and the rest of LawVu, in both written and verbal formats.

Skills and Experience

• 3 years experience data science and analytics 
• Excellent python skills
• Prior experience with cloud technologies would be an advantage
• Prior experience with analytics and data warehouse technology would be an advantage
• Great written and verbal communication skills
