The Spirit of the Position:
The Operations Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations for LAZ Parking's Eastern Michigan University operation and is responsible for overseeing the field operations of the parking system and the operations team to ensure 24/7 professional parking management. The field operations team, which includes supervisors and enforcement officers, are responsible for ensuring the parking locations at EMU are maintained to the LAZ standard and those utilizing our parking locations are doing so in the correct manner. The Operation Manager will serve a key role with responsibility for directing the operations team while ensuring tasks, patrol routes, and regular lot maintenance are completed daily utilizing an array of computer based applications. As a company devoted to promoting an employee-focused servant leadership culture, the Operations Manager will support the programs and initiatives originating from our home office and help to support the individual needs of their operational teams throughout their assigned portfolio.
Principal Job Duties:
- Lead, direct, and develop team of field employees to accomplish annual and periodic goals/initiatives, while embodying and using LAZ Parking's culture as a guideline.
- Identifying high potential employees to support the organization's continued growth.
- Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Annual financial and operational reports are required.
- Managing, planning, scheduling, training, and directing the activities of members of the field operations team including daily and weekly task and work schedules for the team.
- Responsible for payroll processing; ensuring sign off on hours in timely manner; collaborate with the regional payroll department to ensure pay data is completed properly; work with Human Resources Business Partner to ensure proper wage and hour compliance.
- Serve as a liaison to parking patrons and various stakeholder groups who are impacted by the operations of the parking system (and vice versa).
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, evaluating, disciplining and terminating personnel for the field operations team as necessary.
- Work collaboratively with local senior management to evaluate operational consistency with LAZ policies and procedures.
- Analyze data and provide presentations/reports to management on findings and recommendations for improved efficiency or value creation.
- Implement and complete other projects, programs, and initiatives that may arise from the operation of parking system.
- Responsible for the oversight of daily fleet vehicle, parking equipment and general facility maintenance as well as dispatch management.
- Review daily work logs to ensure field operations staff members are performing to standards.
- Manage the revenue collection process to ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures for the timely, accurate and efficient collection of revenue with integrity at the forefront at all times.
- Implementation and completion of other projects, programs, and initiatives that may arise from assigned portfolio operation.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
- 2 years in Management role.
- 2 years in an Operations based field
- Strong customer service experience
- Knowledge and ability to manipulate network and automated systems to meet organization's needs
- Proven ability to effectively lead a team and meet expected deliverables by client/university.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
- Understanding and knowledge of Eastern Michigan University campus and surrounding layout preferred.
