INTERN PROGRAM AREA:
Controls/Maintenance
The BBW Controls/Maintenance team supports material handling, mobile equipment, HVAC, and building maintenance to more than six million square feet of distribution space across our four campuses in Central Ohio. We have sophisticated material handling conveyors and state-of the art sortation systems that are constantly evaluated and upgraded to keep our 24/7 business productive and competitive. We pride ourselves in keeping up with the latest tools, technology and equipment.
Role Overview:
The Control Intern performs a variety of maintenance, modification, and repair activities of all building equipment and material handling systems in the distribution centers. The intern will learn about BBW’s recurring / standardized controls processes as well as perform adhoc projects or tasks within the maintenance/controls area. They’ll build rapport and trust with cross-functional partners and gain knowledge of the maintenance and distribution automation space. Activities are performed with the guidance and support of Maintenance/Controls leadership.
Key Duties:
- Follow lockout-tag out procedures, confined space procedures, and other safety and environmental procedures and policies as required.
- Complete program changes, monitoring of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and PMS (Process Management Systems).
- Troubleshoot repairs of low and high voltage controls, process controllers, cabinets, (including fuses, relays, wiring, contactors and power supplies from the source to the field device).
- Read and comprehend technical manuals, schematics and blueprints.
- Use electrical diagnostic equipment (to include digital and analog meters, and amp meters for AC/DC testing).
What you’ll need to be successful
- Electrical knowledge with high and low voltage, AC and DC preferred
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical drawings preferred
- Innate curiosity and desire to learn; strong mechanical, electrical and technical aptitude preferred
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers such as (Allen/Bradley, Siemens etc.) preferred
- Computer fluency with programs such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel
- Collaborative team and inclusive focus
- College student pursuing their associate degree and in good academic standing
- Possession of a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record
