Summary
The role of the Bartender is to maintain the bar environment and all bar equipment, while mixing and serving drinks and providing an experience that exceeds guest expectations. The Bartender is responsible for keeping the bar area clean and tidy, assisting guests when they have questions about the menus/wine list/liquor and cocktails, and taking orders from guests, anticipating guests' needs and addressing them accordingly.
Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Greet guests in a friendly and courteous manner and explain, if necessary, any specials and/or bar promotions
- Mix and serve drinks, preparing drinks in accordance with the guest's order, serve food, clean bar, set up and break down the bar
- Retrieve completed food and/or beverage orders from kitchen or bar; confirm accuracy of orders and deliver to guests with appropriate condiments
- Abide by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests
- Record the details of the order from guests, repeating as necessary, to check for accuracy
- Replenish beverages as necessary and checks with guest for overall satisfaction
- Market and serve upon request any dessert or specialty items
- Present the check to the guest when asked and collect and process payment
- Handle, process and settle all cash payment and transactions from bar and lounge
- Make sure all silverware and glassware is wiped and spotless
- Enter all sales in POS without errors; double check list of items before "sending", and print a new check after each additional order is entered
- Make sure all products that are served are accounted for on the final bill before presenting it
- Maintain cleanliness of the bar area and ensure the bar is well stocked with supplies and beverages
- Report all suspicious persons or activities and hazardous or unsafe conditions to management
- Understand and follow the laws and guidelines for beverage service
- Provide excellent service to all of our guests at all times
- Assist guests courteously and efficiently
- Respond to all guest questions, provide guest assistance, direction, and information as requested when working in public areas
- Have extensive knowledge of food and beverage in order to service and upsell our product, including liquors and cocktails
- Assist bar and lounge cocktail servers when necessary
- Attend all food and beverage training classes
- Follow the posted opening and closing duties
- Attend daily pre-shift/communication meeting
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in customer service
- Excellent phone skills and communication skills
- Must be a team player
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- ServSafe/Food Handler’s Certification required
- TABC Certification required
Physical Demands:
This position is very active and requires standing for long periods of time. The position may require occasional lifting of products weighing up to 25 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This position regularly requires long hours and a schedule that fluctuates based on business needs.
Expected Earnings: $7.98/hr plus tips - annual $80,000
