Job Summary
The Bar Supervisor helps to make the bar a comfortable and suitable place for customers by ensuring that all facilities and services are perfectly provided. He/She assists the bar manager in managing the bar. Prepares and serves alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages to customers or guests.
Responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A high school diploma with considerable work experience in bars is sufficient for small bars.
- For big bars a college degree preferably hotel management degree is essential.
- A good knowledge about working and operations of the bar
- A pleasing personality
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Good customer service ethics
- Thorough knowledge regarding state specifications for running a bar
- Work hours are inconsistent and hence must be able to work odd hours
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets guests takes orders or makes recommendations and prepares and serves beverages.
- Stocks the bar with drinks garnishes and glassware and ensures a clean working environment.
- Ensures compliance with federal and state liquor laws and applicable company policies. May assist with inventory.
- Ensuring that the staff such as bar tenders and waiters are well trained in their jobs
- Maintain standards of the bar as per state regulations
- Making training arrangement for new staff
- Ensure safety measures of the bar
- Deal with customers in times of trouble and ensure that order prevails
- Involving in advertising and publicity campaigns to ensure an increased customer base for the base
- Meet with suppliers and ensure prompt delivery of bar essentials
- Planning means of improving the ambiance of the space
- Keep track of daily income and expense of the bar
- Make regular reports to the bar manager and fulfill manager's responsibilities when the manager is absent
