Canal Barge Company Job Description: Applications Administrator Job Overview The Application Administrator is responsible for configuring and supporting complex, highly configurable, cloud-based SaaS applications to achieve defined results for the organization and its users. This person will also build and maintain good working relationships with internal business customers and external vendors to understand the context in which applications are used and learn how to configure the applications/systems to solve business needs. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining and/or improving application usability and security. Major Responsibilities Provide primary leadership for assigned CBC systems, including understanding of business needs, capabilities of the system, prioritizing enhancements to achieve business results, and ensuring that users understand and can utilize the system. Serve as backup Application Administrator for CBC’s logistics management system, with the same priorities as above. Provide the following for assigned systems at Canal Barge Company: Analyze, document, and test vendor and custom application development, logic, process flows, requirements, and specs. Document application installation and operating procedures. Manage vendor applications, plans, and relationships. Install, update, diagnose, and monitor internal and third-party applications. Train end users on application use and best practices Understand the parts of the business using the application and the needs of the users and translate the capabilities of the system for the users to help drive usage of the system for continuous improvement of the business. Skills Soft Skills: Work with internal clients to understand business functionality and translate it into application requirements. Manage and maintain vendor and internal relationships. Understand business complexity and application interdependencies. Adapt to new technologies and changing business needs and goals. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Partner with software engineers and others to identify resolutions. Time, relationship, and priority management skills. Organize work, meet deadlines, use resources appropriately. Handle uncertainty and ambiguity. Technical Skills: Troubleshoot application problems and communicate impact clearly and concisely. Microsoft Office tool proficiency. Experience leading technological improvements. Manage and support development, implementation, and maintenance of system infrastructure, custom software, and vendor products.
