The expected salary range for this position is $174,900.00 - $218,600.00. We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to fill the role of Director of Planned & Asset Giving. The successful candidate will be responsible for building a team and developing and executing a comprehensive planned giving program to secure current and future support for our organization. This position requires a deep understanding of philanthropic trends, estate planning strategies, asset-based giving, and excellent communication skills to effectively engage donors in legacy giving. This director serves as a key leader within the USA Philanthropy Leadership team, directing the management of portfolios of high-net worth prospective and current planned giving donors in order to meet Compassion's annual and long-term revenue goals. PLEASE NOTE: This is a remote, US-based position. What will you do? Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintain a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully uphold Compassion’s ministry in prayer. Act as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commit to and prioritize child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abide by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Report any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately support responses to incidents if they occur. Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors. Develop and Implement Planned Giving Strategy: Design and execute a strategic plan for planned and asset-giving initiatives that align with the organization's mission and goals. This includes identifying opportunities for growth, establishing benchmarks, and implementing tactics to achieve objectives. Cultivate Donor Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors interested in planned and asset giving. This involves personalized outreach, meetings, presentations, and networking to educate donors about the benefits of planned giving and to secure commitments. Provide Donor Education and Stewardship: Develop educational materials and resources to inform donors about planned and asset giving options, tax benefits, and estate planning strategies. Provide personalized guidance and support to donors throughout the process, ensuring a positive donor experience and effective stewardship of their contributions. Collaborate with USA Philanthropy Team: Work closely with the development team to integrate planned and asset giving into overall fundraising efforts. Coordinate with colleagues to identify and cultivate planned giving prospects, collaborate on marketing materials, and ensure seamless integration of planned giving strategies with other fundraising activities. Manage Planned Giving Program Operations: Oversee the administrative aspects of the planned and asset giving program, including gift documentation, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and reporting. Utilize donor management systems to track donor interactions, monitor progress towards goals, and generate reports for analysis and decision-making. Stay Informed on Industry Trends: Monitor trends and best practices in planned giving, asset giving, estate planning, tax law, and charitable giving regulations. Stay abreast of changes that may impact donors or the organization's planned giving program and adjust strategies accordingly. May serve as a leader on Compassion tours and project visits, meetings, and special events to further engage constituents with Compassion's mission and programs. Frequently speaks on behalf of Compassion or children in need to a variety of prospective and current high-level/major donor constituent audiences. Provide leadership and development to direct reports and foster an environment of professional growth, in alignment with Compassion’s strategies and objectives. Select, manage and develop assigned staff, establishing goals and objectives, coaching and managing performance, including discipline, motivation, and annual reviews. Compile or prepare and administer the annual budget and departmental expenses, ensuring accountability for on-time completion of deliverables based on department objectives, SLAs, and other Compassion standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and board policies. What will you bring? Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, fundraising, finance, or related area). 15 years' relevant experience. Advanced degree or professional certification (CFRE, CAP) preferred. Strong understanding of planned giving vehicles, including bequests, charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, and donor-advised funds. Ability to travel up to 50% of normal schedule required. *Equivalent education, training and/or certification may be substituted for experience and education shown above. Why work here?
