The Technology Coordinator & Teacher (TCT) will coordinate various technologies within the school and teach and mentor LEAD student to become certified in a technology area. The TCT will provide training, knowledge, and skills in computer science and information technology areas to LEAD students. Students in the technology program will be exposure to a wide area of computer science and information technology theories and practices. The TCT will provide guidance and academic support to students to facilitate course completion. Evaluate and resolve student inquiries, issues, problems, and ensure appropriate action is taken to resolve classroom issues, carry out course evaluates and delivers course information that will meet standardized requirements for a technology related certification. The TCT will report to the instructional leader and the manager of operations.


Qualifications and Certification

  • Valid New Jersey Teaching certification (Technology, or equivalent)

  • Urban school-based work experience preferred or demonstrated a commitment to closing the achievement gap.

  • Bachelor of computer science, information systems, or a related field

  • Certification in IT related field

  • Strong working knowledge of office equipment and computer programs such as Microsoft Office.

  • Success in developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders.

  • Firm commitment to and belief in LEAD Charter School’s mission.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively and prioritize strategically.

  • Openness to feedback and willingness to take personal responsibility.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop/update technology plans and technology guides with guidance from the school leader(s) or supervisor.

  • Maintain accurate technology process charts and documentation to allow for effective technology systems.

  • With the support of outside services provides, install, manage & troubleshoot all information technology.

  • Includes laptops, computers, printers, projectors, interactive boards, local servers, and IS’s.

  • Manage user emails, web resources subscriptions, authentication accounts, etc.

  • Support SIS - Powerschool courses, student enrollment, schedules, data exporting and data report with the support of the school leader(s) or supervisor

  • Maintain IT request systems from request to follow-through.

  • Develop pre-service and on-going technology trainings for effective staff use and implementation.

  • Coordinate with teachers to integrate technology into lesson plans as needs arise.

  • Carryout other technology tasks delivered by the school leader or supervisor, as they arise

  • An ability to teach classes during the day, the evening and/or the weekend

  • Experience using technology and interactive electronic materials to support teaching and learning

  • Instruct the assigned course(s) in accordance with the approved curriculum

  • Ensure that the quality and quantity of instruction provided in the classroom is consistent with the stated objectives of the school and industry.

  • Ensure that the classroom and school’s atmosphere is conducive to maximum learning and retention of students.

  • Maintain a daily record of student attendance and grades in accordance to school policy.

  • Teaching experience is preferred, but not required. Knowledge of learning processes, curriculum design, test construction, teaching methodology and knowledge of technology practice in field related to CompTIA A /IT Fundamentals. Knowledge of and ability to teach topics in computer science and information technology field.
