Job Summary

Directs the sales activities of the dealerships by performing the following duties personally or through teammates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in operating profitable retail and wholesale used car departments.
  • Demonstrates exemplary integrity, serving as a role model in exuding trust and honesty and maintaining the highest professional standards.
  • Maintains a personal demeanor consistent with the Company’s culture, contributing to a positive, supportive work environment for all team members.
  • Ensures all mechanical and cosmetic reconditioning is performed on used vehicles within five (5) business days of acquisition and meets dealership cost limitations. Reports any delays to the General Manager.
  • Coordinates, procures, and routinely evaluates vendors relationships associated with used car sourcing, disposal and reconditioning.
  • Assists store managers with appraisals as needed.
  • Administers and monitors factory-sponsored Certified Pre-owned Programs.
  • Works with the General Manager to determine appropriate days’ supply for used vehicles and acquires vehicle inventory accordingly at physical auctions or online.
  • Establishes and controls all used vehicle wholesale activities and stays abreast of auction activity.
  • Establishes standards for displaying, merchandising, and maintaining used vehicles.
  • Approves and audits repair orders for used vehicles as needed to ensure prompt reconditioning.
  • Reviews market analyses and sales reports to determine customer needs and volume potential and works with the General Manager and sales manager to develop sales campaigns to accommodate the goals of the dealership.
  • Addresses customer complaints to ensure high level of customer satisfaction, as needed.
  • Audits all appraisals of trade-in vehicles.
  • Analyzes and controls expenditures to conform to budgetary requirements.
  • Attends auction at least once monthly.

Earnings Potential:

The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $225,000 annually.   This is just one part of our total rewards package which additionally includes performance bonus for eligible roles, commissions, and competitive benefits.

Qualifications/Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Minimum two (2) years automotive sales experience required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of sales management experience required.
  • Minimum three (3) years of pre-owned departmental management experience required.
  • Knowledge of vAuto and Dealertrack preferred but not required.
  • Proven track record of exceeding customer expectations and financial projections.
  • Must have exceptional leadership, team building and communication skills.
  • Must be organized and have a strong work ethic and be highly motivated.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as collaborate across various groups of managers.
  • Strong computer aptitude, specifically with dealership management systems and Microsoft Excel required.
  • All necessary factory training must be maintained.
  • Travel to other company locations along with our manufacturer’s training and other relevant training courses required.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license for occasional travel requirements and have the ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
  • A professional appearance and manner consistent with culture must be maintained.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • A valid sales license must be maintained. 
  • A valid driver’s licenses must be maintained.
  • Manufacturer certification must be maintained at the minimum level.
