Leader Heights Eye Center is a 5-star rated ophthalmology/optometry office located in York.

We are seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to help us provide patients with excellent care. The Ophthalmic Assistant helps patients by assisting during patient exams, performing preliminary tests and assisting with patient education.

Duties of an Ophthalmic Assistant:

  • Take patient history, past medical history, allergies, social history, and medication list
  • Accurately enter patient information in electronic health records
  • Measure near/distance visual acuity, pupils, and eyeglasses with a manual lensometer.
  • Give patients eye drops
  • Record phone messages, prescriptions, etc. in the electronic health records
  • Schedule surgical procedures and specialist referrals
  • Precertification of tests and surgical procedures
  • Assist with contact lens orientations
  • Performing visual field tests, corneal topography, IOL master, OCTs, pachymetry, OSM and fundus photography.

Salary depends upon experience, starting at $18 per hour.

Requirements

The successful candidate would possess 1-year previous ophthalmology/optometry experience, an associate’s degree, 45 wpm minimum typing speed,excellent customer service and excellent computer skills.
