The Salvation Army Midland Division Camp Mihaska located in Bourbon, Missouri, is looking for a Program Aide. We are looking for an individual age 16 or older to fill this position. This is a full-time, temporary summer position that will start on May 29,2023 and will end July 29, 2023. The pay is $250 per week.
Job Objective:
Summer ministry position which as a support and resource for programming and assists with basic camp program procedures. Position is expected to comply with and meet The Salvation Army, Federal, State and Local policies, and standards.
Essential Functions:
- Set up, maintain, and tear down program locations.
- Deliver program supplies as needed and ensure said supplies are returned to the proper storage.
- Assist with program leadership as needed.
- Serve during free time rotation at various locations around camp, including the Sweet Shop, Rec Shack, etc.
- Assist with registration by overseeing luggage stored at Rock Pavilion before being transported to the cabins and prior to being returned to cars.
- Work on projects as assigned by the DYS.
- Be present at all meals, meetings and programs unless otherwise directed.
- Be available to provide spiritual direction to campers as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with Salvation Army Safe From Harm guidelines.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and campers; respect of others’ property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about campers, co-workers and supervisors.
- Requires good communication and leadership skills and be able to work in a variety of climates and weather-related conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be an individual of the Christian faith who has a strong personal relationship with the Lord; attends church on a regular basis; and displays a desire to lead others spiritually.
- Must be able to live on campgrounds throughout duration of employment.
- Must be a team player, a self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Understand and support the goals and objectives of The Salvation Army Camping program.
Physical and Working Conditions:
Capable of participating in camp activities. Frequently lifts 20 pounds, occasionally lifts up to 40 pounds. Some work will be outdoors in the heat.
