Risk & Claims Coordinator / Claims Assistant
A Leavitt Group affiliate, Leavitt United Insurance Services, is looking for a Risk & Claims Coordinator for one of their offices in Elk Grove, CA;
Lodi, CA; Sonora, CA; Santa Rosa, CA; or Napa, CA. As a Risk & Claims Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting the the property / casualty risk and claims team.
You will work directly with clients, Producers, Account Executives, Account Managers, risk, and claims representatives to manage our existing and prospective clients.
SUMMARY
The Risk & Claims Coordinator will provide support in all aspects of the Risk & Claims Department (RAC). You will be responsible for assisting the the property / casualty risk and claims team.
You will work directly with clients, Producers, Account Executives, Account Managers, risk, and claims representatives to manage our existing and prospective clients.
This position inputs all new property & casualty claims and organizes and update the property & casualty calendar and department emails and other administrative duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following :
- Will be responsible to enter claims into AMSand submit the First Notice of Loss (FNOL) to the appropriate carrier.
- Gathering P&C / Workers’ Compensation claim statuses on smaller claims as assigned.
- Coordination of stewardship or claims summary reports.
- Assist in gathering documents for pre-unit stat review process according to the department workflows and procedures.
- Prepareandassistwith PowerPoint presentations, hosting, moderating webinars, and meetings as needed or assigned.
- Occasional travel maybe required.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
Education : Minimum Required High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Experience : A minimum of 1 year of agency experience or a combination of experience in an administrative capacity.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate using the English Language.
The ability to read and interpret insurance related documents such as policy documents and general correspondence is required.
Must be able to communicate information and respond to questions (verbally and in written form) effectively with company personnel and other agency staff.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Be able to perform basic math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Compute rate, ratio, and percentage. Calculate discounts, commissions, and percentages. These are the skills necessary to calculate premium and commission, and assist with premium payment arrangements, including financing.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic knowledge of a word processing program and spreadsheet program is needed. Typing skills or prior data input experience is mandatory.
REASONING ABILITY
Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to apply common sense understanding, interpret and carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form to insurance and general office situations.
Must be able to work with minimal supervision. The ability to recognize and solve customer problems that are related to their insurance policies is required.
Must be capable of collecting underwriting information and determining the appropriate company for account placement.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
License : The agency requires you have an active CA property / casualty license or obtain within 90 days of employment. Have a valid, in force driver’s license with an MVR acceptable to the agency.
Continuing Education : Attend industry designed classes that will increase knowledge of the industry and satisfy state licensing CE requirements.
Participate in company training classes as required.
