POSITION: Secretary
REPORTS TO: Principal
WORK LOCATION: In Person
CALENDAR: 245 Days/year, 7.5 hours/day
JOB GOAL: The Secretary will be able to effectively manage the operation of the school office.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
2. Demonstrable skills in current computer applications
3. Knowledge in office practice
4. Self-directed initiative, resourceful, and anticipates duties
5. Socially poised, affable, and responsive
6. The following background clearances are required: Act 151, Act 34, Act 24, and FBI clearance
7. Must be proficient in the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain confidential student files
2. Enter and verify student records
3. Maintain records required by policy or regulation
4. Prepare materials for meetings
5. Arrange/confirm scheduling of appointments
6. Respond to requests for information regarding student records
7. Verify incoming/transferring confidential student records
8. Place and receive telephone calls
9. Greet persons courteously, determine needs, respond appropriately, and communicate action
10. Record and dispatch messages
11. Greet and respond to all employees
12. Prepare letters, forms, and documents
13. Convert source documents into computer acceptable form
14. Sort and deliver mail
15. Alert immediate supervisor of urgent or suspicious matters
16. Order and maintain office supplies and equipment
17. Perform other duties as assigned

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear. The employee occasionally will sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and will frequently repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion such as when typing. Employee will frequently interact with students and other staff members. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee may occasionally lift weights up to 25 pounds such as boxes of paper.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The Secretary position follows the Secretary & Paraprofessional Contract.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
