Schedule:
Full Time: 7:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday
Position Summary:
The Junior Buyer position is responsible for maintaining existing and develop new supplier/vendor relationships. This position must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with all personalities. Competencies required for the Junior Buyer position, include independence, assertiveness, effective interpersonal communication, decisiveness, judgement & decision making, planning & organizing, process management, problem solving, detail orientation, teamwork, time management, functional/technical skills and continuous improvement.
Position Responsibilities:
- Serve the needs of internal customers: Sales, Customer Service, Inventory, and Operations by helping and responding timely as requested
- Follow all procedures, work instructions and standard work for the LECO Purchasing department
- Maintain existing and develop new supplier/vendor relationships to develop, implement, and track actions for improving supplier/vendor quality, delivery performance, and total cost of ownership and payment terms
- Support quote activities with timely quotes for sourcing, ordering, procurement of materials, at a competitive level of cost, quality, and delivery
- Verifies and validates vendor product information, shipping information, and delivery dates
- Responsible for PO creation, revisions, obtaining order confirmations and reviewing invoice discrepancies
- Negotiate with suppliers for best cost and delivery
- Place orders after requisitions are received from inventory production ensuring correct pricing
- Respond appropriately to urgent situations and ensure prompt and effective analysis, resolution, follow-up actions, and appropriate communication
- Initiate cost savings and process improvements to achieve positive results in all areas and continuously improve
- Make recommendations for changing suppliers, obtaining quotes, and internal purchasing dept. processes
- Ensure continual maintenance and development of SOP’s and cross training
- Regular physical attendance at the worksite is required
Position Requirements:
- 0 to 3 Years of experience in Procurement or Supply Chain functions
- Strong organizational, prioritization, time-management, and multi-tasking skills
- Self-motivated with proven ability to work both independently and with others
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with all personalities
- Ability to exercise sound objective judgement in evaluating situations, problem solving analysis and making decisions
- Ability to weigh all options regarding quality, readily available supplier inventory, cost, to achieve positive results
- Proficient in MSOffice, Outlook, etc., ORACLE system
Education/Certifications:
- High School Diploma required
- Associate Degree in Business preferred
