Our nonprofit client in Andover, Ma, is looking for a payroll specialist to join their team.
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring the complete, compliant, accurate and timely execution of pay cycles, collection of time and attendance data, preparation and issuance of tax filings and W-2's, and reconciliation of payroll-related data in the general ledger. Provides administrative and financial reporting support to the Finance Department.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger
Perform accurate and timely completion of daily accounting functions utilizing an integrated accounting system (e.g. cash receipts and general ledger journal entries, etc.).
* Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts, analyze, and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate recording and reporting.
* Maintain supporting schedules, as needed, utilizing Excel spreadsheets
Processes
* Perform key role in processing and validating the payroll records of the organization utilizing ADP payroll system.
* Adhere to t internal financial controls and policies to ensure organization's assets are protected.
* Ownership and responsibility for all activities required to plan, organize, and administer payroll activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness and compliance with all regulations.
* Coordinate payment of garnishments.
* Lead the investigation and resolution of complex problems requiring in-depth knowledge of payroll processing, policies, and payroll related regulations
* Maintain current knowledge of payroll laws, procedures, calculations, and adjustments.
* Provide day to day management and administration of all components of payment/settlement processing to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of payroll payments in accordance with organization's policy and IRS regulations.
* Prepare and process all payroll related journal entries and related account reconciliations including the quarterly 941 reconciliation.
* Maintain training and up-to-date knowledge of payroll processing and reporting system.
* Interact and communicate with Finance and Human Resources team members as well as staff members to answer payroll related questions.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Minimum of two (2) years of accounting courses completed at the undergraduate / college level is preferred
* Five years of previous payroll work experience is preferred.
* Experience using ADP Workforce Now Payroll.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office (Excel, Word).
* Possess excellent communication and customer service skills; communicates clearly orally and in writing.
* Self-motivated and willing to learn new skills, processes and software applications.
Excellent organizational skills; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; ensures quality of work.
