Job Posting for Technology System Specialist (Traffic) at Lee County Government
The role encompasses routine management of the Department of Transportation (DOT) computing infrastructure. The successful candidate will be pivotal in analyzing, crafting, deploying, and supervising software solutions across a networked environment that spans multiple locations. The individual will offer technical assistance to both our team members and clientele, assess technical requisites, and refine operational procedures. Additionally, the role includes oversight of layered data backup and recovery protocols, inclusive of emergency response measures.
This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration of DOT computer systems.
Incumbent analyzes, develops, implements, monitors, and resolves all software issues in a multi-site network of various servers.
Work involves providing technical support for internal users and external customers, determining technical needs, and analyzing work processes.
Position is also responsible for managing multi-tier system backup and restore processes; including disaster recovery.
Installs, maintains and configures multi-platform servers, databases, applications, desktops, peripherals, and multi-protocol network components distributed across various locations.
Works with Purchasing and Vendors to specify and acquire new equipment.
Monitors and resolves all software applications with various batch jobs and processes.
Manages several applications; such as Cartegraph for work order and inventory, SunGuide for interoperability with FDOT, Traffic Operations Center (TOC) applications, and Traffic control-related systems.
Creates and maintains databases (Oracle, SQL, MS Access).
Configure, implement, and provides disaster recovery across platforms for all servers.
Position includes Project Management and System Administration for DOT for conversion and roll-out of new Cartegraph OMS (Operational Management System) for Traffic Signals, Signs, Pavement, and Operations.
Provides support (as System Administrator) to other County Departments that will be utilizing Cartegraph OMS (Such as LeeTRAN).
Minimum requirements:
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate's Degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to the satisfactory completion of two years of college in computer science, information technology, or a closely related field and two years in information technology, database management, software configuration, and troubleshooting or closely related experience.
Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
Preferred requirements:
Knowledge of Windows and Unix based servers experience.
Knowledge of Traffic Control system applications, including Centrac, Sunguide, and ATMS systems.
Strong knowledge of computer programming methods, technologies, and equipment.
Ability to configure, operate, and install computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and resolve software problems.
Ability to communicate effectively; verbally and in written form.
Ability to use computerized planning and monitoring systems.
Ability to communicate effectively; verbally and in written form.
Work Hours and Days are Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
