Dental Assistant/Surgical Assistant

Lee W. McNeish, DMD PC
Waterbury, CT Full Time | Part Time
POSTED ON 5/12/2024

We are currently seeking a Dental Assistant. We would love if you have had some experience in the field but if not we are very willing and excited to train the right person. The Applicant will need to have infection control and dental radiology certificates or be in the process of obtaining them. The applicant will need to be available to work 3-5 days per week, and function as part of our surgical team.

Dr. McNeish has practiced oral surgery in Connecticut since finishing his residency at UCONN. For the past 32 years we have taken pride in providing care at our primary office at 650 Chase Parkway and our satellite office at 22 Westfield Ave in Ansonia. Three years ago, Dr. Julie McNeish joined our practice. We travel to Ansonia three days per week. Typical office hours are Monday-Friday 8-5. That being said, we need to see emergencies that extend normal hours from time to time.

We provide procedures such as extractions, removal of impacted wisdom teeth, implant placement, evaluation and treatment of pathology, exposure of impacted teeth for orthodontics, and administration of intravenous sedation and general anesthesia.

A surgical assistant’s responsibilities include: room set up, instrument preparation and sterilization, chart review, patient greeting and initial screening, surgical assisting during procedure, post-operative instructions, taking of intra-oral, panoramic, and 3D radiographs, scheduling appointments, inventory and room restocking, and end of the day office clean up and shut down. As experience grows the responsibilities expand. The office functions with 6 (sometimes 5) staff members. 2-3 assistants and 2-3 front desk.

As our mission statement says “it is our goal to provide maximum comfort and optimal outcomes in a caring and compassionate environment”. As part of our team you will be an integral part of providing superior patient care. Details of our expectations, compensation and benefits will be discussed if an interview is scheduled. We do not provide medical insurance with an office based policy.

Our team has many years of combined experienced and well-suited to train you for the specifics of oral surgery. We are pleased to have you consider our office as you search for employment.
