Company Overview

Leeward Renewable Energy is a growth-oriented renewable energy company that owns and operates a portfolio of 22 renewable energy facilities across nine states, totaling more than 2,000 MW of installed capacity. We are actively developing new wind, solar, and energy storage projects in energy markets across the U.S., with 17 GW of projects under development spanning over 100 projects. With projects currently under construction and soon to commence construction, we expect to commercialize over 1,000 MW of renewable energy projects in the next two years.

Job Summary

The M&A Associate will support activities targeting new portfolio additions in utility-scale wind, solar, and storage, pursuing differentiated asset monetization strategies, and aggregating competitive intelligence.  

The Associate will support the M&A team on project acquisitions and divestiture transactions, and will collaborate with the Project Development, Project Finance, and Legal teams at LRE on transactions. The Associate will support analysis opportunities for strategic revenue growth for the organization. The Associate will also support Origination team activities as directed, including PPA bidding and other revenue generating opportunities for LRE’s portfolio.

 

Essential Functions

  • Support senior team in acquisition and divestiture transactions 
  • Review financial models to understand key value drivers and run valuation analysis
  • Source and interpret relevant data on markets, competitors, and transactions
  • Maintain and develop systems for tracking opportunities and internal deliverables
  • Prepare materials to support management and external interactions
  • Participate in counterparty and management calls and visits
  • Contribute to the development of the M&A and Origination team strategy
  • Collaborate with internal technical services such as legal, finance, engineering, and government affairs
  • Evaluate project acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic partnerships in the context of corporate goals and make recommendations to senior leadership team
  • Support in core M&A process activity flow, including process letters, letter of intents, shared models, deal documentation, dataroom preparation, diligence logs, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Preferred 2 years experience in energy-related role as origination/sales, project development, trading, finance, strategy/consulting or similar
  • Bachelor’s degree

Physical Demands

  • Position will require sitting for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally lift 20-pound or more.
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 25% of time.
  • Flexible work location.
