POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Tech will travel across the country and globally and will operate the provided fiber optic equipment according to the Statement of Work (SOW) for each specific project in order to provide the customer with maximum satisfaction and an excellent customer experience. The Field Tech must maximize their interpersonal skills, experience and product knowledge to gather data or perform work in a challenging environment to the benefit of the customer. When the tech is not in the field for travel they are responsible for all aspects of customer returns for repair and calibration. This includes troubleshooting units such as optical power meters, sources, optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR), polarization mode dispersion, chromatic dispersion, and splicing/cleaving test equipment. Candidate must be open to travel. ON THE JOB TRAINING IS PROVIDED.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Ensuring all assigned equipment is in order before deploying to the field.
- Arriving on site as scheduled and perform the SOW in a professional and efficient manner that represents Legacy Fiber optics as an industry leader.
- Communicate appropriately with the Project Manager of issues discovered while in the field.
- Working the required hours in order to complete the assigned project on time in order to meet the customer’s expectations.
- If the Field Tech is working a maintenance window project (12 AM – 6 AM), it is their responsibility to make sure all data/files are uploaded to the company drive immediately after the completion of work. This ensures that all results and reports are sent out to the customer in a timely manner.
- Required to travel throughout the US and beyond. Travel makes up to 75% of jobs assigned to FC Tech. Most travel does not include weekends. Legacy Fiberoptics makes no guarantee on set hours each week as jobs vary based on customer needs and scheduling.
- Document all aspects of the job including: test details and results, site details, hours worked and expenses incurred.
- The field tech will become proficient with the equipment and technology offered by Legacy Fiberoptics including Fiber Characterization Equipment and analysis and reporting software ie. analyzing and trouble shooting OTDR, OLTS, ORL, Power Meter & Light Source readings.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Applicant must possess a valid US Driver's License
- Education: High School Diploma is a minimum.
- Further education/work experience in the electrical/engineering field or other related field is strongly encouraged.
