What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laundry Worker position at Legacy Healthcare?
Job Type: Full-time
Shift: 3:00pm-11:30pm
JOB SUMMARY:
Washes garments and linens, as necessary, in an electrically powered washing machine. Places clothes in a drum of washer and adjusts valves to admit water of proper temperature. Starts drum rolling and stops machine after articles have been washed and rinsed. Transfers washed clothes from washer to dryer and to basket for distribution. Hangs finished garments on hangers or folds and stacks garments. Distributes clothes to residents’ rooms. Performs other duties as assigned by Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor.
REPORTS TO: Director of Environmental Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES;
1. Responsible for washing laundry in a manner that will not damage either machine or garments, washing contaminated linen separately if necessary.
2. Avoids overloading machines.
3. Reports all malfunctions of equipments.
4. Willingness to perform routine tasks on a continuous basis.
5. Ability to keep the flow of work.
6. Works under close supervision of the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School education preferred, but not required.
2. Must be able to read, write and follow instructions.
3. Some laundry experience desired, but not necessary. Will receive on-the-job training.
4. Must have knowledge of commercial laundry processes, equipment and procedures for both washing and ironing materials.
