Therapist

The Therapist provides assessment, treatment, psychoeducational and clinical services. Improves client well-being and functioning by conducting proper clinical assessment, developing and conducting therapeutic interventions that address the findings of assessments, providing psycho-education to clients and families, and consultation and coordination with allied professionals. Leads clinical team. Participates in supervision, trainings, and professional development activities. Identifies client needs/problems from completion of the biopsychosocial assessment and/or needs assessment. Develops and implements comprehensive, individualized treatment plans based on assessment. Ensures proper implementation of the treatment plan. Conducts face-to-face clinical interventions which includes individual, group and family as appropriate to program and client. Manages crises and re-assesses youth as necessary to update crisis plan. Serves as the lead during a crisis. Coordinates discharge and aftercare, including all necessary referrals to external providers. Works with the treatment family/direct care workers on issues of behavior management, crisis intervention, understanding the nature of client’s problems and ensuring the continuity of the placement. Provides psychoeducational materials and rationales for intervention to treatment team members. Writes progress notes and other documents and takes responsibility for maintenance of the treatment record. Ensures compliance with Agency policies and procedures regarding work practices and expectations. Uses knowledge of professional ethics to inform clinical services. Must be able to drive an agency owned vehicle.

This position is split between Mercer Reunification Services and the Therapeutic Supervised Visitation Program. Both are community-based reunification programs that aim to achieve family reunification whenever possible through therapy, case management and parent education

Education/Experience:

Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, psychology or a related field with a license as a LAC/LSW or LPC/LCSW required. Clinical supervision is provided to LAC/LSW staff. Must have previous training and experience providing behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and their families.
