LEGEND is currently seeking applicants for the following positions:
Chemist I (Organics Department)
The Organics Department is hiring a full-time Chemist requiring a bachelor’s degree in a science related field (Chemistry preferred).
QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position will require a fundamental knowledge of instrumentation. Experience with Ion Chromatography (IC), Gas Chromatography (GC), or Liquid Chromatography (LC) is a plus.
- The analyst must be capable of performing sample extractions and analysis on environmental samples, such as drinking water, wastewater, ground water and soils.
- Ability to work with chemicals and solvents.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds.
- Experience with LIMS data reporting.
- Full-time position working 40-45 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
- Starting pay is based on experience. Re-evaluation of pay at 3 months is determined by performance.
GENERAL:
- Prepare and analyze environmental drinking water, wastewater and solid samples utilizing a variety of EPA Methods.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Prepare standards and quality control to meet method criteria.
- Perform sample preparation using various procedures, such as SPE extraction, concentration, and reconstitution for analysis.
- Operate instrumentation to perform current analytical methods on various equipment.
- Data processing and validation using prescribed methods.
- Manage workflow, etc. in an efficient manner.
- Perform other job duties as needed to support the team.
- Cross training and teamwork are essential.
- Maintain familiarity and comply with environmental regulations.
