1. Supervisor: Shipping Supervisor/Materials Manager
2. Department / Division: Materials
3. Exempt: No
4. Summary: Responsible for day-to-day packaging, receiving, and material handling duties. Ensure proper packing slip and bill of lading receivers are correctly processed.
5. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
5.1. Material Handling: Responsible for receiving and distribution of incoming materials to the appropriate division. To keep the hardware and T-nut racks organized. To organize and maintain finished product in the shipping area. Responsible for loading and unloading of semi-trailers, as well as the packaging of any outbound packages of product or samples.
5.2. Packaging: Responsible to ensure the banding and wrapping of finished products are satisfactory for outbound shipping. Package samples and hardware in a quality manner for outbound shipping.
5.3. Receiving: Responsible to receive all Davidson and IRT purchased materials and supplies, and complete associated documentation and distribution.
5.4. Shipping: Perform shipping functions on computer, prepare packing slips and bills of lading and schedule trucking.
5.5. Inventory: Responsible for maintaining and controlling inventory levels of packaging, T-nuts, and other hardware items. Responsible to help complete monthly and year-end physical inventories.
5.6. Inspections: Hardware & Purchased product-Inspected to 7.4.3-B Receiving Inspection (Verification) (Other than Veneer) Work Instruction. Veneer inspected to 7.4.3-A Receiving Inspection (Verification) of Veneer Work Instruction.
5.7. Administrative: Package and prepare paperwork for the shipping of items via United Parcel Service.
5.8. Communication: Answers internal questions concerning product in the staging area, shipping schedules and over shipment approvals.
5.9. Employee Development: Responsible for furthering own skill advancement.
5.10. Safety: Conduct activities in accordance with Davidson safety standards.
5.10.1 Identify and apply SDS labels and/or poison labels on appropriate containers. See 6.4.2-D SDS Document Control and 6.4.2-A4 Receiving of Hazardous Materials for details.
5.11. Housekeeping: Maintain the department cleanliness and organization.
5.12. Continuous Improvement: To strive to make improvements in shipping and receiving operations.
5.13. Is certified as a Hi-lo Trainer. Position will train all new hi-lo drivers and certify them as qualified, licensed hi-lo operators. position will recertify all existing hi-lo operators as required.
5.14. Is certified as a lift equipment trainer. position will train, certify and license all employees who operate any of the lift equipment at the facility. Position will recertify all existing lift equipment operators as required.
6. Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 6.1. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
6.2. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
6.3. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
6.4. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
6.5. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
6.5.1. Current unrestricted Michigan Driver's license
6.5.2. Hi-Lo license or the ability and desire to learn.
7. Other Skills and Abilities:
7.1. Good organizational, communication and record keeping skills necessary.
7.2. Desire a highly motivated person.
7.3. Basic computer knowledge and/or desire to learn.
