Duties

The tour of duty hours will be 11 : 30am-8 : 00pm.

This position is emergency essential - Depending on the type of emergency the employee may be required to report to work during emergency situations.

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Operates electric subway cars to transport passengers.
  • Makes a trial trip at the beginning of the shift before transporting passengers to confirm that the vehicle can be operated safely.
  • Reports defects in equipment or performance.
  • Have regular contact with Congressmen, AOC executives, congressional staff and members of the public.
  • Provides directions and answers questions such as locations of exhibits, offices and shops. Provides information on scheduled hours of offices, exhibits, and the duration of exhibits.

Notifies passengers of restricted areas.

  • Operates passenger elevators in public buildings. Passengers include Members of Congress, AOC officials and members of the public.
  • Performs cleaning tasks in an assigned area without instructions. Schedules cleaning tasks within the framework of an assigned schedule which states the frequency of each task.

Independently determines the priority of any non-routine work. Tasks involve handling and controlling heavy powered cleaning equipment such as wall washers, carpet cleaning machines, and buffing machines.

Cleans and adjusts equipment. Performs minor equipment maintenance such as cleaning, oiling, and changing brushes, buffer discs, and rollers.

  • Moves, sets up, and works from scaffolds, ladders and man lifts.
  • Performs messenger tasks when required. Distributes mail and other office communications following established procedures.
