What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Trainer position at Lehigh and Northampton Transport Authority?
RESPONSIBILITIES: LANta is looking for an enthusiastic
Technical Trainer who will be responsible for effectively educating all
maintenance department and other authority personnel as needed. This will be
accomplished through ongoing course development and determining training needs based
on observations within the maintenance department. This requires a
well-prepared professional with excellent communication skills, a track record
of accurately delivering complex information in a clear and engaging manner.
Technical trainers must be extremely knowledgeable in their field of expertise,
possess solid technical aptitude and professional rapport.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Work with Director of Maintenance and other department personnel to create and facilitate technical training programs through an application of product and technical information.
- Create and maintain training schedules and assessments.
- Continuously enhance technical instruction delivery and presentation skills.
- Prepare training materials and agendas (presentations, worksheets etc.)
- Execute training sessions
- Keep and report data on completed and future training.
- Evaluate results of training programs to determine overall effectiveness and make improvements
· Work within the maintenance department to develop and recommend policies, practices, and procedures for the maintenance of LANta vehicles, equipment and tools to ensure the efficient provision of services
· Help identify maintenance problem areas and recommend improvements
· Assist with troubleshooting complex issues and make repair recommendations as needed
QUaLIFICATIONS
· College/vocational diploma in vehicle systems (powertrain/electrical/HVAC) or equivalent preferred; in lieu of a college diploma, we will consider substantial relevant experience.
- 5 years automotive/transportation/trucking practical maintenance experience
- Transit Bus experience Preferred
- Outstanding communication skills and comfort level with public speaking
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Thorough understanding of electrical theory
- Skills in troubleshooting and a solid understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and HVAC systems
- Ability to read, understand and interpret schematics and technical instructions relating to products and systems
- Ability to dispense effective group training activities using demonstrations and exercises
- Ability to present clearly on a given topic
- Computer knowledge (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Independence and resourcefulness
- Excellent interpersonal, communication skills
WORK CONDITIONS:
- Shop and office environment
- Hands on
- Occasional periods of standing or sitting for extended periods of time
- Frequent computer and telephone use
- Frequent communication with people throughout the day
- Occasional evening and weekend work as needed
