Job Description
Individual will be responsible for installation, configuration, and support of the institution’s physical and logical LAN/WAN network and security infrastructure, including effective management of network environment, firewall and security administration. Position will report directly to the Assistant Director of Network and Security.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain and support the institution’s physical LAN/WAN/WLAN network consisting of multivendor network and security equipment.
Maintain and support cybersecurity solutions, audits, and work with third-party cybersecurity teams when required.
Support network and security services including firewalls, ACL’s, VPNs and monitoring solutions.
Analyze, research and report on best practices around network and security related services
Prepare technical documentation and knowledge sharing with others.
Develop and maintain network and security diagrams and other related documentation.
Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance and upgrade of network and security infrastructure.
Configuration and troubleshooting of all network layers with a primary focus on layers 1 – 3
Proactively monitors networks to ensure service disruptions for business critical IT services are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
Monitors security and auditing tools to ensure the detection of security events such as attacks and data loss.
Supports scheduled system maintenance tasks.
Constructs, terminates and tests network interface cables for use between network servers, workstations and other network and security equipment.
Assists with project related tasks including scoping, installing, quoting and maintaining networking and security equipment and/or services.
Supports other departments with related projects that have network or security related needs.
Acting as a troubleshooting resource with respect to all aspects of network and security.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
Education
Associate’s degree from an accredited institution or 1 year related work experience including a high school diploma or equivalent
Certifications
Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)
Work Experience
Working knowledge of network and/or security systems
Familiarity with network monitoring solutions.
Familiarity with Windows and Linux based operating systems.
Some exposure to security and compliance requirements in an educational domain.

Must be able to work independently, in an open, team-oriented environment and be capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to think outside-of-the-box to generate creative solutions to problems
Must be able to work with diverse populations while providing a high level of customer service.
Requires excellent oral and written communication skills along with excellent troubleshooting/analytical skills.
Must approach work with a high level of energy, motivation, persistence, and a positive attitude in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Must have the skill for attention to detail and ability to focus on quality assurance.
Comfort level with troubleshooting OSI layers 1, 2 and 3 and general knowledge of all network layers in the OSI model.
Ability to perform 24x7 troubleshooting, including off-hour maintenance windows, problem resolution, and on-call duty.
Must possess a high level of the following work skills and behaviors: teamwork/cooperation, initiative, customer service, and commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution.
Experience with Aruba & HPE networking solutions, Palo Alto, Windows, Linux, virtualization and cloud environments.
Experience deploying, configuring and maintaining industry leading nextgen firewalls
Command line experience.
Current Industry certifications such as CCNA, ACSA, CompTIA Network , CompTIA A , CompTIA Security or educational equivalents.
Bilingual (Spanish)
Educational setting experience serving the mission of the community college.
