Dynetics Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking a talented Chief Engineer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

Dynetics is seeking to fill a key position of Chief Engineer for the Universal Stage Adapter (USA) program supporting NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS). The USA will integrate the Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) to the Orion crew module while providing structural, electrical, and communication paths. The USA will also provide environmental control to payloads during integrated ground operations, launch, and ascent phases. The USA will integrate primary, co-manifested, and secondary payloads on the EUS.

Primary Responsibilities

The candidate will work directly with the Program Manager to ensure proper execution and product delivery for Dynetics. The selected candidate will interface with and lead all major technical disciplines of the program, providing leadership for system design, test, development, delivery, and sustainment life cycle. The candidate should have experience in all aspects of flight hardware development systems, including modeling, system architecture, requirements development, design, integration, test, production, operations, and sustainment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent field from an ABET accredited school is required with at least 15 years of relevant work history.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience as Chief Engineer or similar role
• Full life-cycle experience with complex aerospace systems from inception (requirements/concept development) through startup, execution, and completion (testing, sustainment and delivery to end user)
• Multi-disciplined knowledge in areas related to engineering including systems design, hardware, integration and test
• Presentation delivery to customers, management and other stakeholders
• Technical risk management, key system performance parameters, lessons learned and cost and schedule performance (EVMS).
• Architecture, system, design and modeling execution in accordance with program requirements
• Technical review conduct including PMRs, SRRs, TRRs, PDRs, CDRs, Configuration Review Boards, and Failure Review Boards
• Risk & opportunity management
• Scope and change management to ensure engineering team understands and adheres to contract scope and manages change through control board activities.
• Decisions/recommendations to Program Management to reconcile conflicting viewpoints on best designs and technical topics

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area

Desired Skills:

• MS or PhD preferred
• Experience with spacecraft or payload development, launch or operations
• Experience with NASA contracting preferred
• Experience with Model-based systems engineering, digital engineering, and DevSecOps principles

Security Requirements:

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
