Leidos has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Mission Communications Systems on the Advanced Enterprise Global Information Services (AEGIS) Contract. The opening is for a position located at the Huntsville Operations Support Center (HOSC) which supports NASA specialized mission critical communications services, such as the HOSC Mission LANs, the Human Space Flight WAN and the Mission Voice Conferencing Systems. The SME will be positioned in the AEGIS HOSC Networking Group at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
Job Description:
- Maintain contract compliance: Reporting, auditing, reviewing contract modifications, budgeting, forecasting cost, allocation of work force and resource management.
- Present as the AEGIS HOSC representative to all required customer obligations and commitments in Flight Reviews, Engineering Control Boards and Operations Briefings and Working Groups.
- Maintain technical expertise in all areas of telecommunications and the underlying networks, transport layer circuits, computer hardware and software that provide mission voice services utilizing the NASA mission networks.
- Design, Analyze, Plan, Modify/Upgrade, and Maintain the equipment and systems making up the networks and the communications infrastructure supporting data and voice services.
- Recommend and perform configuration, preventative maintenance, fault isolation of local/remote equipment and the interfacing Mission and Non-Mission WAN circuitry.
- Duties include providing specifications and detailed drawings and schematics for these systems and the services they provide. Providing research and information for hardware and software for consideration of acquisition.
- Develop and release detailed instructions to implement any change supporting an enhancement or upgrade. Review and Modify existing procedures as deemed necessary.
- Implement approved changes (OS software upgrades, Application configurations and upgrades, Hardware configuration upgrades and interfacing circuits).
- Support HOSC Operations during high visibility or critical activities.
- Provide training to HOSC Operations, Training Dept., Help Desk, and End Users in the use and understanding of the Voice Keysets (Soft Clients or Appliances).
- Conduct testing (formal validation and end to end communications checkouts) of the systems and associated devices and services.
- Monitor systems health and status using available tools and techniques.
- Evaluate and report on potential software and hardware technologies to enhance capabilities of the services.
- Conduct audits of equipment and asset management of physical property.
Qualifications
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge in management and organizational skills required to maintain the fiscal budget, forecast budget planning, balance resource allocations, provide reporting at all levels and meet all contractual obligations.
- Knowledge in the operation, tuning, and maintenance of Mission Voice Conferencing Systems, such as are used in Mission Operations Control Centers and Air Traffic Control Centers.
- Knowledge of Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) and TMD over IP
- Knowledge of technologies such as DHCP, DNS, SSH, TCP, and UDP.
- Knowledge in the Linux Operating System; RHEL, Ubuntu and Centos.
- Knowledge in Operator Systems; Windows, MAC, and Java.
- Knowledge in Databases i.e. MySQL and MariaDB
- Knowledge with Network Security technologies such as IPsec, VPN, and OS hardening techniques.
- Knowledge of Systems monitoring and performance tools, Spectrum, Cisco Works, Bigfix.
Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science with relevant course work, and 15 years of experience in Real-time Mission environments.
- Non degreed: minimum 35 years of relevant work experience with the Manned Space Flight Programs and Mission Communications systems interoperability.
Clearance:
Must be able to attain a Public Trust Clearance.
Pay Range:
Pay Range $97,500.00 - $176,250.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
