POSITION TITLE: RECREATION MAINTENANCE/CUSTODIAN
JOB GRADE: NE 6
DEFINITION:
Inspects Recreation Facility to ensure safety, aesthetics and proper maintenance. Responsible to order and inventory all maintenance supplies. Ensures swimming pool area and activities are being conducted in a safe, clean and pleasant environment. Maintains pool area and ensures proper operation of pool equipment, and maintenance of chemical balances in water. May be required to fill in for a custodian absence.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintenance:
Responsibilities: In charge of Building maintenance under the Recreation Facility Manager, safety programs, and equipment ordering.
1. Inspects Recreation building facilities, and equipment to ensure proper safety and cleaning standards are maintained.
2. Perform preventative, repair or general Maintenance work of facilities, buildings, grounds, and equipment at various sites including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, glazier, and painting tasks. Ensures the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. Troubleshoots repairs to machines, equipment, or structures as necessary.
3. Oversees contractors when professional repairs are necessary.
4. Diagnose mechanical issues and correct them if possible.
5. Responsible for ordering of supplies for maintenance of facility, interacting with various Vendors.
6. Responsible for overseeing safety program in the Recreation Department and ensures safety procedures are being met.
7. Ensure that we have the proper SDS sheets for the products that we use and keep them logged and filed.
8. Assures compliance of established rules and safety regulations at the pool.
9. Prepares work orders for Resident Services for work to be done.
10. Notifies Recreation Facilities Manager of equipment and maintenance needs.
11. Fills in for a custodian absence. Performing occasional cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping etc.
12. Assists the Recreation Facility Manager as needed
Pool:
1. Assures compliance of established rules and safety regulations at the pool. This requires being fair, consistent and courteous to gain the cooperation and respect of the residents.
2. Inspects pool, deck, pavilion, buildings and furniture to ensure that proper safety and cleaning standards are being maintained. Identifies possible infractions and takes action to report or correct them.
3. As a Licensed Pool Operator (which we will provide schooling) is responsible for the following pool
Operations:
a) Ensures that filters remove particulate material & debris providing clean water.
b) Ensures that re-circulation systems & pumps meet turnover rate & requirements, checking for water clarity and cleanliness.
c) Ensures that disinfectant equipment and chemical feeders provide a disinfecting residual at all times. Frequently tests pool and spa water maintaining continuous standards and proper chemical balance in accordance with County Health Department & LVA rules. ChecksEnsure that staff checks chemical tanks daily & adds proper chemicals weekly.
d) Ensures that decks are clean, safe, have no voids greater than 3/16”. Decks must have 4-8 ft of unobstructed clearance.
e) Ensures that health and safety warnings and rules are posted, current and in good repair.
4. Inspects all pool equipment & ensures repairs as necessary.
5. Ensures pool rescue equipment is sufficient and in good repair.
6. Ensures pool stay clean and free of debris.
7. Notifies Recreation Facilities Manager of equipment and maintenance needs. Prepares orders for supplies and equipment, calling vendors to get prices, etc. before submitting to Manager for approval.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Must have knowledge in construction trades. Must exercise good judgment, be reliable, and be able to make sound decisions. Ability to use efficiently various power and hand tools. Knowledge in computer operation required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
1. Exposure to outside elements prevalent in the Camarillo area.
2. Subject to prolonged standing or sitting in the performance of normal duties.
3. Sporadic stressful situations.
