Role

As a Barista, you'll bring joy to our Leiva’s family and customers by leveraging your expertise in creating and serving hot or cold beverages as well as preparing simple food items, often customized according to customer preferences. You'll be responsible for taking customer orders and payments as well as maintaining a clean workspace alongside your fellow baristas. Cooperation is key! Our work environment is most successful when we strive to help our team succeed in making the short amount of time we have with our patrons, the best it can be.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

· Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of Leiva’s Coffee.

· Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume, stress, or unusual events.

· Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues.

· Communicates information to manager so that the team can respond as necessary to create an experience that has customers wanting to return to again.

· Assists with new partner training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed.

· Contributes to positive team environment by recognizing alarms or changes in morale and performance, communicating them to the store manager.

· Delivers legendary customer service to all customers by acting with "a customer comes first" attitude and connecting with the customer. Discovering and responding to customer needs and concerns.

· Follows Leiva’s operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift.

· Maintains a clean and organized workspace that sets up the next shift for success and ensures other partners will be able to locate resources and products as needed.

· Provides quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products.

· Recognizes and reinforces individual and team accomplishments by using existing organizational methods.

· Maintains regular and punctual attendance

Prior customer service / Retail

Experience working with user research and customer feedback.

Experience collaborating with management.

Treat customers and all members of the team with dignity and respect.

Be ON Time; Leave ON Time.

If you are not sure of something, ask about it so we can minimize mistakes; this applies to recipes, operational standards, policies etc. Own your mistakes and Learn from them!

To keep wastefulness to the minimum, put a process in place to assure it happens as little as possible; every time you drop a bean, remember it costs people’s sweat and tears.

If sick or not able to come in, give us as much notice as possible so your store manager can work with the team to get your shift covered!

Have a positive attitude! If your struggling, please talk to your store manager so they can adjust the work environment to better suit you and the team. Let's talk about it!

Follow communication protocols: Phone call means you are needed ASAP; Text msg means answer within the hour, Email means answer within 24hrs.

Dress Code

  • Leiva’s shirt (provided) or non explicit shirts/tops (no tank tops or crop tops) with a Leiva's apron (Aprons should have a nametag and nothing else on it)
  • Pants (black, blue, gray, dark green, or khaki in color. denim, linen, twill, khaki, cotton materials)
  • Skirts and dresses (at least finger length)
  • Shorts (with at least 4"inch inseam)
  • Leggings are okay but it's important to make sure you pair the right top with it, such as a tunic, longer sweater, cardigan, dress, etc.
  • Shoes should be close toed (no crocs) We suggest something you don't mind getting dirty as spills are bound to happen.
  • Hair that falls below the shoulders should be tied back.
  • Colorful hair, tattoos and piercings are welcome! Just make sure that any explicit tattoos are covered up.
  • We love seeing your personal style! Just make sure no clothing item or jewelry has the potential to fall into or around drinks and food. We also cannot allow any political attire or accessories, regardless of affiliation, that will be visible to customers. (some examples include: political pins, buttons, hats, slogans, logos, etc.)
  • If dress code is not upheld you may be required to change into a provided Leiva's shirt or sent home (after clocking out) to change your look.

Note, you will be given the complete dress code as a reference once you have received a job offer!

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $11.00 - $15.00 per hour
