The Lemont Park District Legacy Gymnastics Academy has an exciting opportunity open for an enthusiastic, positive, and reliable coach in the IPDGC competitive division of gymnastics. This coach will primarily be responsible for coming up with lesson plans, coaching and spotting gymnasts during practice, attending gymnastics meets. Collaborating with the other team coaches to have a creative and fun practice environment and ensure safety. Training and assistance will be provided.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
• Create curriculum and lesson plans with the ability to coach and instruct the required skills to the Gymnastics Team.
• Identify nationwide and local trends in the areas of gymnastics and related programs. Develop and implement similar programs and opportunities for District’s participants.
• This position would be a minimum of 2 practice evenings a week (6 hours) with some various weekend hours such as extra practices, private lessons and gymnastics meets.
• Additional responsibilities can include coaching recreation gymnastics classes, private lessons, and open gym.
• Ensure that all participants stay safe through educating them on safe practices and making sure that all areas are up to safety standards. Conduct and record regularly scheduled equipment safety checks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum of Three (3) years of coaching IPDGC, Excel, or Competitive gymnastics.
• Experience instructing and coaching all levels of gymnastics.
• An understanding of the IPDGC rules, requirements, deductions, and routines are required.
• Knowledge of all safety aspects of gymnastics programs and other assigned programs.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision after training period.
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
Work Environment:
Work will take place indoors in a typical gymnast environment. Employee must have the ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including standing, bending, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, running, and lifting. Exposure to cleaning and disinfecting supplies. Exposure to noise, dust, gymnastics chalk and elevation.
