AES a division of Lennox, was established in 1988 and is one of the largest manufacturers of roof curbs and drop box diffuser systems in the nation. We have recently expanded our capabilities as a single source supplier by adding a Mechanical Services Division as well as becoming a Misc. Steel manufacturer. These new services will reduce construction costs and eliminate coordination with multiple suppliers and subcontractors. Our focus will be to enhance the services provided to our General Contractor network nationwide. AES has 4 different fabrication facility locations nationwide to assist our customers and reduce their freight cost and shipment lead times.

Job Summary Design and produce drawings of metal fabrication components for the HVAC industry. Determines product specifications are met; performs customer verification approvals and product database management. Illustrate drawings from product literature, architectural plans, and verbal instructions. In addition, will help ensure that company operating, and cost efficiencies are obtained, quality and safety standards are achieved, and customer delivery deadlines are met.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Responsible for creation and maintenance of products and bills of material.
  • Work directly with sales staff and customers to produce drawings from sketches, blueprints, existing drawings, and photos, along with written and verbal descriptions.
  • Work closely with all departments in the plant to ensure that drawings convey the correct information and are error free. Updating drawings as necessary to ensure immediate continuous production and to prevent future delays.
  • Utilizes drafting resources to create new tools to carry out above mentioned task more efficiently; includes hardware and software design.
  • Work from customer drawings, company drawings, vendor drawing or specification. Use corporate drawing standards as guidelines.
  • Perform additional related duties as requested or required.


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Knowledge

  • Associate’s degree in drafting design or equivalent experience required. In addition, one to three years drafting experience preferred.


Skills

  • Drafting and design skills with sheet metal products.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical plans specifications and architectural drawings
  • Proficient computer skills including Solidworks, or other 3D CAD software, Auto CAD, Word, Excel, and Email
  • MRP experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and results
  • Mechanical and technical skills and knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team

Physical/Visual/Mental Demands

Position requires the ability to react, move about, and exchange information verbally within an office and occasionally on shop floor. Light occasional lifting up to 20 pounds as is typical of an office setting. Near and far vision required to operate computer system and convey direction to shop.

Nature of Supervision Received

Work is performed under the supervision of the Engineering Manager. Works independently within authority limits and experience level. Incumbent must establish and independently set daily objectives to meet deadlines and address urgent situations as they occur.

Decision Making

Requires the ability to comprehend and evaluate facts and arrive at a decision consistent with company standards and procedures. Must be thorough and accurate in making selections, determining product specifications, and monitoring current performance. Decisions are required as to which procedures are applicable to a given situation and how best to obtain results with company practice and ability. Understanding when to evaluate decision options with peers and superior without detracting from overall work performance.

Financial Responsibility

Financial loss to the company could occur if work specifications are incorrect which would lead to inefficient use of company capital resulting in expenditures to fix poor quality product to customers.

Communication Responsibilities

Contact with other employees within the organization as well as customers and vendors outside the organization through verbal and digital communication. Teamwork is required.
