Responsibilities
The Managing Principal’s strategic contribution is through the ability to deliver on the aspirations of the annual business plan and the inspiration of sector leaders to creatively formulate the vision for their respective sectors. The tactical responsibilities of the Managing Principal revolve around plan implementation and the overall performance of the Dallas Studio.
Overall Firm Leadership
- Participate in firmwide initiatives, especially as part of the team of Managing Principals.
- Uphold, promote and further the achievement of firmwide goals.
- Help build an exceptional group of professionals through creating an exemplary practice and using it to attract superior talent.
Studio Specific Responsibilities
- Goal setting
- Establish short and long-term studio goals and objectives consistent with the overall goals of Leo A Daly.
- Work with studio leaders to inspire the Dallas team to achieve designated goals and profitability targets.
- Project Execution
- Establish or enhance systems to monitor project performance in terms of schedule, cost, design quality, regulatory and legal compliance, contract scope, risk management, and technical excellence.
- Create a team of energized professionals who assume personal responsibility for the successful completion of every project, reinforcing the role of the studio leadership team in ensuring a consistent focus on project execution.
- Business Development
- Throughout the Studio, instill a culture of authentic curiosity, helpfulness, and genuine interest in others, particularly potential clients, and industry influencers.
- Guide and direct the senior leaders in the management, development, promotion, and marketing of the studio's services.
- Work closely with firm Business Development team by providing guidance in strategy.
- Oversee proposals and pursuit strategy and quality of submissions.
- Personally represent the Dallas studio to clients and others in all external activities.
- Management
- Ensure that business practices are thorough, inclusive, fair, and future-oriented.
- Create a culture of optimism, energy, creativity, and curiosity that clients can sense and rely on.
- Regularly review performance of the studio with senior leaders in achieving business goals and the health of the culture of the Dallas studio.
Qualifications
- Registered Architect
- BArch or MArch degree
- 15 years of relevant experience.
- Evidence of success in business development.
- Effective leadership of diverse groups of employees in a large, multi-office firm environment.
- Experience leading a profitable business unit(s).
- Leadership presence and communication skills that inspire and quickly build trust within the office and firm, and externally with the community and profession.
- Personal experience in at least one of the following market sectors: Aviation, Health-care, Federal, Hospitality, Corporate, Commercial.
- Experience in the Dallas or surrounding regions resulting in strong business relationships.
- A practice-builder mentality that transcends a project focus.
- Acknowledgement of the necessity to lead by example while effectively managing the office staff in their respective roles.
- Proven ability to inspire teams within a larger corporate culture and an interest in leveraging the resources of the entire firm.
- Ability to interact successfully with clients and staff at all levels.
