We have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Director of Nursing. At Leroy, the Director of Nursing functions as the administrative authority for the Department of Nursing. The DON is responsible for the organization and oversight of all nursing operations and for the supervision of care for all residents/patients at the facility.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

Direct, develop, implement, review and revise nursing service goals and objectives.

Establish and maintain standards of quality nursing practice.

Maintain nursing policy and procedure manuals.

Develop and implement guidelines for staffing, recruitment and selection, supervision, evaluation, retention and termination of nursing personnel.

Act as liaison between Nursing Services and other departments.

Plan and administer the nursing budget. Identify the need and make recommendations for major expenditures.

Make provision for twenty-four hour nursing care of the residents and patients.

Communicate and implement all administrative directives to nursing personnel.

Act as a resource person for staff members, providing guidance, direction and assistance as indicated.

Evaluate nursing personnel and make recommendations for promotions, additional development and terminations.

Delegate responsibilities to level of nursing as per established job descriptions.

Conduct conferences and discussions with Assistant Director of Nursing, and staff to promote formulation of departmental policies, promote initiative, planning and problem resolution.

Evaluate effectiveness of nursing department through nursing audits.

Participate in committees as assigned.

Maintain and enforce department and facility procedures and safety standards aimed at accident and fire prevention.

Comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (JOPAA) regulations.

Must be an active participant in the facility’s Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) program and Performance Improvement Project (PIP) and carry out roles and responsibilities as assigned. Must identify opportunities for improvement, lead PIP projects and provide education and coaching in order to build the needed skills in others to lead PIPs. Participate in multidisciplinary activities and collaborate with the committee to prioritize and develop QAPI efforts. Must also report potential or actual non-compliance issues to the facility’s QAPI committee.

Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the NHA.

Essential applicant requirements include:

Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the NY State Board of Nurse Examiners.

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse by the NY State Board of Nurse Examiners.

Knowledgeable of nursing, medical practices and procedures.

Knowledgeable of all legal regulations, guidelines and best practices that pertain to long-term care.

Possess leadership, communication and people skills, supervisory abilities and the capability to develop staff skills.

Possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc. that are necessary for providing quality of care.

Understand the basics of budgeting and financial reporting.

Possess the ability to create a collaborative and efficient workplace with attention to quality standards and policies.

Keep abreast of changing standards in nursing administration through continuing education.

Possess an aptitude for problem solving.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $110,000.00 per year
