POSITION SUMMARY
We are currently looking for a Paralegal in our Scottsdale, AZ headquarters to become the second member of our new in-house legal team, joining the VP of Legal. This position will work closely with the VP of legal to develop the company’s growing legal function. As Lessen expands, additional legal team members will be added. The successful candidate for this position is comfortable with traditional paralegal work, including tasks small and large, and has a willingness to develop new skills in new areas of the law with which they do not have prior experience. They will (amongst other duties): (1) manage substantive research projects on a range of issues such as licensing, legislation, and privacy compliance; (2) will assist with drafting and implementing foundational policies and; (3) identify and implement internal tools to drive efficiency of the legal function within Lessen. If you have the desired skills and experience and can stay organized in the frenzy of a high-volume growing start-up, then this may be the position you have been waiting for!
We should talk ASAP if you have the following experience:
- Drafting, filing, and managing various business entity documents for corporations, LLC’s and partnerships with State agencies;
- Communicating with the appropriate governmental offices to verify filings;
- Performing due diligence, including UCC searches and Certificates of Good Standing;
- Assist with template development, drafting and preparing forms, letters, and other legal documents;
- Assist with coordination of approvals, signatures, notarization, and legalization of documents;
- Track various business and other licenses maintained by Lessen in multiple states and help ensure continued compliance with ongoing licensing requirements;
- Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved in an efficient and timely manner; and
- Excellent organizational and record keeping skills with a team player mentality, willing to quickly pivot your focus to assist team members no matter the task…we are in this thing together!
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience
- 5 years as a paralegal at a law firm and / or in-house
- Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods and processes, and other related matters
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office 365
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to effectively use the office automation, communication, software, and tools used in the Lessen office environment
- Knowledge of document management systems a plus!
