General Summary
The Teacher Aide plays an important part in the team of educators at Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House. Responsibilities of the Teacher Aide include assisting with preparation of appropriate lesson plans (including instruction during family style dining), helping implement the adopted curriculum, and managing classroom behavior. He or she will assist in conducting screenings and assessments, maintaining records, and scheduling and completing home visits. Individuals in this position are responsible for obtaining and managing all child outcome data. The teacher Aide also helps plan and participates in classroom, playground, and field trip activities. These activities are designed to foster or enhance all areas of the child’s development
Essential Responsibilities
Provides specialized instruction and collects data on student growth as well as recommend a course of action or corrective procedures to overcome issues and maximize learning
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
Communicate the academic progress, attendance, and conduct of students to their parents/guardians
Other duties as necessary to the position
Education Requirement
Preschool Teacher Aide
Associates in early childhood or
Illinois Gateways credential, or preschool CDA or proof of enrollment in program up to six months upon hire
Infant/Toddler Teacher Aide
Illinois Gateway Infant and toddler credential or infant and toddler CDA or proof of enrollment up to six months upon hire
Job Requirements
Must be able to implement intense student support.
Monitor and support student safety skills
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
Ability to multi-task and time manage.
Strong team player and willingness to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.
Have education or experience in collaborating with parents in the education of their children
