Reports to: President CEO

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (40 hours/week), occasional early mornings, evenings and weekends required

Salary Range: $54,000 - $65,000

The Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce is an engine for economic vitality and enhanced quality of life that envisions a diverse, vibrant economic and cultural landscape in Central Maine. The Chamber has 750 members in Androscoggin County, and provides programming for entrepreneurs, small businesses, rising professionals, and more. The Chamber has two subsidiaries that include the Lewiston Auburn Economic Growth Council, a 501c6 and the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Foundation, a 501c3.

Position Overview:

The Director of Marketing Communications at the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce is a dynamic role responsible for overseeing the Chamber's communication efforts, managing social media platforms, and promoting Chamber activities and members. This position involves creating and managing content for e-newsletters, e-blasts, and the Chamber's websites. The Director of Marketing Communications will also coordinate outsourced marketing activities, such as graphic design and publications. The Director of Marketing Communications will work closely with the President CEO on special marketing projects, from time to time.

Core Responsibilities:

Marketing

  • Building brand awareness, including positioning.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the company’s customers and identify opportunities for brand growth.

Design

  • Design (digital and print) assets for marketing campaigns and outreach efforts.
  • Produce assets for use on the Chamber's website
  • Create graphic design content (Written and visual) for flyers and other communication materials for events.
  • Develop promotions and materials aligned with the approved marketing plan and in conjunction with the Chamber team.

Communication

  • Ensure consistent use of Chamber’s brands on all platforms and channels, and with partners and vendors.
  • Manage social media platforms to maintain a clear and consistent voice and maximize engagement.
  • Create and distribute all email marketing for Chamber brands.
  • Manage content for the Chamber's websites.
  • Manage PR and advertising on behalf of the Chamber.
  • Create and be able to communicate the marketing plan/strategy for the Chamber and its brands.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of key marketing collateral.
  • Manage inbound/outbound communication requests.

Admin

  • Responsible for contributing to and adhering to the annual budget related to marketing.
  • Maintain records of digital assets for the organization and its members.

Operations

  • Manage projects with outside vendors for publications and resources
  • Coordinating marketing projects from concept to completion.
  • Collaborate with the Chamber team to uncover insights for developing marketing and branding strategies for existing and new products and services.
  • Identify and pursue marketing strategies to increase revenue opportunities.
  • Understand key performance metrics and tracking tools for market research, forecasts, campaign results, and consumer trends, and translate results into actionable insights.
  • Approaches marketing execution through a systems-focused approach.

Essential Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital marketing strategies, including social media management, email marketing, and content creation, to effectively engage our audiences and promote activities.
  • Understanding of community dynamics and the ability to tailor marketing efforts to resonate with diverse local businesses, fostering a sense of community and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of event marketing principles, including the coordination of promotional materials, outreach strategies, and leveraging social media platforms to maximize event attendance and engagement.
  • Awareness of local business trends and economic developments to inform marketing strategies that align with the Chamber's mission and support the growth of its members.
  • Familiarity with graphic design principles to collaborate effectively with design vendors and ensure visually appealing marketing materials.

Skills:

  • Proficient in managing and optimizing social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) to enhance the Chamber brands’ online presence and engage with the community effectively.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple marketing projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Excellent content creation skills for various channels, including newsletters, e-blasts, and websites, with the ability to craft compelling messages that resonate with our audiences.
  • : Skill in coordinating with external vendors for graphic design, publications, and other outsourced marketing activities, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze marketing performance metrics, interpret data, and derive actionable insights to continuously improve marketing strategies and achieve desired outcomes.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field suggested., equivalent experience welcomed. Three - five years of relevant work experience preferred.

Job Requirements:

  • This position requires work in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move office equipment and supplies weighing up to 10-20 pounds.
