Insulation Estimator Overview:
The Insulation Estimator must be able to learn and use computer aided estimating tools and be familiar with reading construction plans and specifications. This position will also require an understanding of construction contracts as they relate to estimated cost.
Insulation Estimator Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform accurate quantity take-offs of areas, piping, fittings, and vessels.
- Attend pre-bid meetings to be familiarized with the jobsite conditions as necessary.
- Review and evaluate projects to determine proper materials, applications, and scope of work.
- Prepare an estimated Bill of Materials for purchasing.
- Participate in bid review meetings.
- Determine labor, material, and equipment cost.
- Meet and maintain bidding schedules.
- Write grammatically correct, clear, and concise correspondence.
- Formulate a project schedule when required.
- Upon award of the subcontract, prepare Bill of Materials for Operations.
- Update and organize the estimating folder and answer questions, perform additional break out of pricing and value engineering items as needed.
- The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
Insulation Estimator Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years’ experience in Mechanical Insulation contracting required.
- Degree in related field preferred.
- Computer aided estimating experience required.
- Must have the ability to read, interpret, and accurately take-off construction drawings.
- Must possess advanced skills in mathematics.
- Working knowledge in using personal computer and application software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Knowledge of MIKE, Bluebeam, and Navisworks software a plus.
Insulation Estimator Physical Demands:
- Requires some overtime and weekend work.
- May require some overnight travel.
- Must be capable of multi-tasking and be efficient in time management.
- Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment and could meet deadlines.
- Must have the ability to lift your whole bodyweight while climbing.
- Must be able to sit and work on a computer most of the workday.
