Position Summary
The CNC Machine Operator tends to the fabricating machine to cut, shape and bend structural plates by performing the following duties. This position is deemed ‘safety sensitive’ due to the fact that a person improperly performing the essential or marginal functions of the job would constitute a threat to the health or safety of the employee, the employee’s co-workers, and/or the public at large.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Programs CNC machine to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. These CNC Machines include Burn Table, Angle/Beam Line, Wheel-a-brator and Coper.
- Load CAD drawn CNC programs with job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
- Observes machine operation to detect defects or machine malfunction.
- Load and unload structural steel from machine with overhead crane.
- Remove burrs from parts. Clear scrap shavings and debris from machine when required.
- Package parts for delivery or pick up.
- The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
Qualifications
High school education or equivalent. Minimum of three months’ related experience and/or training. Must have ability to read and understand detailed shop drawings. Must have ability to perform basic math functions. Must have good oral/written communication skills. Must have basic computer skills.
Physical Demands
Must have ability to lift 80 lbs. frequently and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Considerable amounts of standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. Exposed to temperature fluctuations and a noisy work environment. All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.
