Lexington Life Academy in Gilbert is seeking a reliable and qualified Transportation Director to join our team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities.
- Supervises transportation employees: Vehicle Driver/Trainers, Vehicle Drivers/Support Personnel, Substitute Vehicle Drivers and Vehicle Attendants.
- Create and maintain routes to and from school.
- Adds new students to transportation routes.
- Maintains regular attendance.
- Schedules, supervises, and trains vehicle drivers.
- Supervises and instructs all phases of school van operating procedures to all new and continuing employees.
- Communicates effectively and facilitates with school administrators, vehicle drivers, attendants, students, parents and others to resolve conflicts regarding vehicle-riding systems.
- Performs dispatcher duties when needed.
- Makes emergency decisions and last-minute changes to ensure safe, smooth operation of transporting students.
- Accident evaluation, completion of reports, and submits to proper agencies.
- On-call for emergencies during off-duty hours.
- Substitutes as a school van driver in times of excessive absences and/or emergencies.
- Supervises van drivers/trainers, van driver/support personnel, substitute van drivers and van attendants.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

- Must have a valid AZ drivers license.
- Must possess a Clean MVR.
- Must have or be willing to obtain Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent required (some college preferred).
- Training in administration, management or communications desirable.
- Supervisory or personnel management experience.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations.
- Ability to accurately perform assigned tasks.
- Must possess thorough knowledge of all aspects of pupil transportation and the ability to demonstrate and communicate that knowledge to others.
- Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills.
