POSITION SUMMARY: The Payroll Manager is responsible for implementing, maintaining and reviewing centralized payroll processing systems, including multi-state payrolls, to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, bonuses, benefits, garnishments, tuition payments, W-2 reporting of relocation expenses, tax equalization of expatriates, uniforms, travel advances, unemployment claims, tax and other deductions. He/She will ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, promotions, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
Supervises all activities for the payroll system (ADP), time and attendance system (ADP), SAP, month-end journal entries for payroll, bonus accruals, third-party sick pay, employee tax withholding, employer tax expense, tax reporting, tax audits, workers compensation audits, payroll related month end accruals and management reporting for all the above items.
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
- Lead & manage payroll team and responsible for running payrolls efficiently & accurately for multiple pay groups in multiple states
- Maintains ADP payroll system, ADP time & attendance system and SAP
- Leads, develops, implements, and maintains Excel spreadsheet programs to automate upload of payroll data into ADP payroll system. This includes salary and hourly pay rates & benefits.
- Maintains & respond to all payroll-related inquiries including but not limited to payroll deductions, accruals, wage garnishments, child support payments, and resolves employee issues.
- Review & ensure accuracy in payroll system/record for names, rates of pay, information of newly hired employees, changes in wages, job titles, deductions, 401(K) contributions, W4 form & other payroll related payments & deductions
- Manages, coordinates, reviews, and monitors employee relocation tax information with outsource relocation company.
- Ensure all payroll reporting are accurately prepared & timely submitted
- Build strong relationship with internal & external customers
- Display strong knowledge, interpret, and effectively apply Federal, State and local laws & regulations for multi-states.
- Ensure company policies are complied with & implemented.
- Performs & engage in any other projects or job-related duties
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Strong sense of urgency in meeting customer needs.
- Strong taxing filing and state & federal Regulations knowledge is required.
- Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint software.
- Knowledge & hands-on experience of ADP Payroll; Workday; ADP Time & Attendance; SAP and Excel
Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:
- Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
- Will be working most of the times in an office environment but may have to be out in a mining environment.
- The employee could be exposed to the following working conditions if out in the mining environment: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Mineral/Lime Particles.
- The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, typing, and sitting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to travel up 30% at times or as directed by leadership.
Required Experience: Must have at least 5-7 years of progressive payroll leadership and management multi-state experience in manufacturing, mining, or fast-paced environment. Specific training in payroll and accounting systems and a good math/accounting aptitude.
Required Education: High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor's Degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, Business, Organizational Communications, and/or Management or related field or equivalent work experience in the field is desired.
