RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:
Safety and Compliance
- Ensures that the company fleet operates within all Department of Transportation (DOT) and company guidelines
Load Planning and Scheduling
- Performs dispatching activities, including daily load planning and scheduling for the private fleet and third-party carriers
- Works with the Distribution Manager regarding driver availability, drivers’ hours of service, and equipment availability
- Data entry for customer order creation and intracompany orders
Customer Service
- Interacts with internal and external customers and third-party carriers
- Proactively settles issues before they impact the customer by using logical and creative problem solving
- Confirms orders for the following day by calling and/or emailing customers
- Involved in total quality process and continuous improvement of customer confidence by knowing the customer’s demands for sizing, quality, and quantity in relationship to inventory
ATTRIBUTES:
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, and fleet equipment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Current computer skills in Microsoft applications, SAP, and search engine online programs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Behavioral competencies include: tolerance for stress, practical learning, adaptability, multi-tasking, teamwork, planning, and organizing.
- Extremely dependable; the time sensitive nature of this position requires excellent attendance and complete customer focus
- Ability to work Monday – Friday from 11am – 7pm
- Able to be on call after hours (occasional evenings and 1 -2 weekends per month)
Required Education: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Required Experience: 3-5 years of dispatching and customer service experience.
Preferred Experience: SAP experience, experience with e-logs & GPS tracking
