Overview
Responsible for assisting in the review and reconciliation of trial balance accounts by recording various transactions into the General Ledger to ensure the accurate and timely reporting of our monthly financial statements and various supplemental financial reports. Additionally, this position will be responsible for general accounting activities including the development and ongoing maintenance of policies and procedures surrounding the processes that lead to financial reporting.
Professional Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Experience
Two to five years’ experience in an accounting-related area with preference given to experience in a manufacturing environment. Multinational accounting experience is a plus.
General
- Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.
- General understanding of various accounting processes, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets and Sales & Use Taxes.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing programs, preferably Microsoft Excel and Word.
Position Responsibilities
Specific
- Analyze and maintain general ledger accounts with proper supporting documentation and records of transactions. Prepare and record monthly journal entries to ensure general ledger accounts, for which this position is responsible, are properly reflected in preparation for the monthly financial statements.
- Support business unit financial statement preparation including analyzing and maintaining appropriate allocations.
- Prepare supporting analysis and management reporting to help business leaders understand their functions and look for opportunities to drive further profitability.
- Preparation of various reconciliations of general ledger accounts to supporting sub-ledgers or other supporting documentation on a monthly basis.
- Prepare certain supporting schedules for our annual audit of our year-end financial statements by our external auditors.
- Administer the fixed asset system and supporting schedule of construction in progress, ensuring the fixed assets and construction in progress schedules reconcile back to the general ledger.
- Provide back-up support for the processing of accounts payable as needed, particularly during our month-end closing process.
- Analyze and support the monthly forecasting process with actual vs plan account analysis and evaluation of anomalous items.
- Support cash forecasting processes.
- Prepare and subsequently maintain work instructions for various functions affecting the recording of transactions for areas for which this position is responsible.
