Liberty Mutual’s Global Compliance & Ethics Department is seeking a highly qualified attorney to join a team of in-house lawyers responsible for management of all legal and regulatory matters impacting the company’s global Economic and Trade Sanctions (sanctions), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Anti-Corruption (anti-corruption) programs. This position generally requires at least five years’ experience as a practicing lawyer, the ability to apply financial crimes laws to various insurance transactions, and a working knowledge in the sanctions, AML and anti-corruption areas. The lawyer will provide legal advice and carry out actions which have an impact upon the rights, privileges and responsibilities of the Company while maintaining high standards of legal and business ethics and professional responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance of sanctions, AML and anti-corruption programs, including:
- Maintaining global policies and procedures
- Providing legal advice on voluminous day-to-day transaction requests from internal and external business partners
- Partnering with multi-functional teams across various business channels on global financial crimes strategic initiatives
- Monitoring compliance with internal controls
- Providing training to business partners
- Monitoring and advising on regulatory developments
- Advising on regulatory inquires, audits and investigations
- Supporting M&A team with pre-acquisition, divestiture due diligence and post-acquisition due diligence and integration
