What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance supervisor position at Liberty Utilities?
Purpose
The BOP Maintenance Supervisor is an experienced electrical specialist (such as a red seal lineman, HV specialist, power systems engineer or technologist) within the Maintenance Engineering organization, and will be responsible for supervision, troubleshooting, and execution of maintenance actions related to BOP (Balance of Plant) items.
This includes HV, MV and LV electrical equipment, station power components. Primarily focused on LPCo US and Canada Wind and Solar facilities but also supporting, Thermal, RNG and Hydro facilities as needed.
The role also includes the Scope standardization, preparation, execution of maintenance activities and outage planning. Also supporting Capex projects, as well as support of NERC compliance sustainment activities : such as reviewing commissioning reports, preparation of evidence, and participation in audits when required.
Additionally, this function plays a key role in the standardization of maintenance plans and tools across LPCo, utilizing the SAP framework for EAM / CMMS, Inventory management, Procurement, and other associated functions.
Accountabilities
- Coordinates outage planning with Ops and other field staff, in relation of work / project planning and execution.
- Develop and Implement Short term and long-term maintenance plans for all HV / MV / LV equipment’s across the fleet.
- Identify and analyze single point failure and recommend critical spares strategy for existing as well as new sites.
- Ensures that maintenance and other project activity (performed by internal or external resources) complies with applicable processes, procedures, standards both internal and applicable external / regulatory.
- Supports the analysis and interpretation of Maintenance-related data & metrics, prepares and presents (when required) performance reports.
- Works as an effective member of the Maintenance Engineering team while providing leadership and direction for 3'rd party vendors / service companies.
- Communicates directly with Operations Staff, Engineering SME's, Asset Strategy, Asset Performance Management, NERC compliance and other internal stakeholders as well as external Contractors and Service Providers
- Provides support to Maintenance Planners, Technicians and QA / QC staff in response to Operations issues, while reporting to the Sr.
Manager, Maintenance Engineering.
- Supports the implementation of SAP and other systems such as condition-based monitoring, and SCADA systems, to support data-driven decision making in relation to maintenance planning and execution.
- Have in-depth knowledge of IEEE, NERC & NETA standards for Maintenance Testing of Electrical Power Equipment & Systems, primarily for BOP.
- Provide project planning services for projects related to BOP Maintenance and Quality Initiatives including preparing;
1) scope of work definition, (2) budget estimating, and (3) project scheduling for the purpose of project justification and obtaining project approval, including revisions as required.
- React to changes in work assignments and priority and undertake all other tasks as assigned.
- Perform all work treating worker and public safety as paramount and in compliance with all environmental and other regulatory requirements.
Education and Experience
- Must have experience in Substation / Electrical Maintenance
- 8-10 years Electrical Field experience, High & Medium Voltage Switching, with focus on BOP, in combination with technical qualifications such as a Technical Diploma, and / or Licensed Electrician, and / or Electrical Engineering degree.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical as well as general problem-solving skills
- Must know and have worked with LOTO Procedures and other Safety Orders & Protocols, and be familiar with public safety and environmental regulations.
- Must have working familiarity with IEEE, NERC & NETA standards for Maintenance Testing Specifications for Electrical Power Equipment & Systems, and be familiar with QA / AC of project activities (field operations) related to O&M
- Must have working knowledge of Substation / Electrical Power equipment including Transformers, Instrument transformers, Circuit Breakers, Lines, Buses, Switchgear, Protective relays, Grounding systems, UPS, SCADA, etc.
- Working knowledge of Root Cause Analysis and single point failure analysis for BOP Equipment’s.
- Experienced in power renewables generation with preference in Wind and Solar.
- Must have a high aptitude for technical learning and information assimilation noting there is not an expectation that the individual will be an expert in all areas of power generation utilized by Liberty but that they will be able to develop the expertise when required, including acknowledging when outside expertise resources should be engaged, and identifying and procuring those resources as need.
- Familiarity with O&M Agreements & Activities in Wind and Solar energy domains
- Must have good communication skills for the purpose of sharing and transferring best practices in the context of maintenance of electrical equipment, and presentation of information to Senior leadership.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and the ability to rent vehicles on the corporate account.
- Must be able and flexible to travel within Canada and the United States as needed - approximately 20%.
