What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meter reader position at Liberty Utilities?
Purpose
This position is responsible for traveling to different sites and conducting gas consumption meter reads using meter reading equipment and responding to customer service requests, not limited to : connections, disconnects, rereading meters, checking for leaks, etc.
Communicating with property owners or representatives and maintaining gas meters that measure the gas consumption of homes and businesses.
Other duties as assigned.
Accountabilities
Field Service
- Travel in the service territory to visit each home or business on the meter reader list
- each day.
- Collect data from meters located inside or outside of homes and other buildings using
- meter reading equipment.
- Recheck and verify readings when there have been complaints of readings that appear
- to be inaccurate.
- Included in the call-out rotation schedule.
Service & Repair
- Provide new gas activation services to customers by connecting the meter and
- disconnecting service when required.
- Locate and check meters for proper operation. Makes minor repairs in the field such as
- tightening connections.
- Report inoperable and malfunctioning devices or unauthorized changes to the meter to
- supervisor.
Training
Completion of Operator Qualification (OQ) Training.
Skills Required
- Ability to read, record and report data accurately.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in various weather conditions.
- Valid Driver's License
HOURLY RATE : $22.86
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
