Summary
Oversee and direct maintenance personnel, equipment installation, facilities equipment repair, and preventative maintenance. Inspect and evaluate physical plant, grounds, and related equipment. Coordinate with outside contractors to perform activities, repairs, preventive maintenance on building equipment, and building and grounds appearance. Purchase and manage all related maintenance supplies and plant equipment repair parts for all equipment in the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership, development, and support primarily to the maintenance department under the guidance of the Lief Management and Leadership Principles. Department includes front-line supervisors, a team of mechanics amongst others.
- Responsibilities include cost efficiency, continuous improvement, service, and safety across all shifts.
- This role will also include achieving site performance for uptime, equipment reliability, overall equipment effectiveness, and building/grounds maintenance.
- This role will also coach team members to utilize the processes and facilitate problem-solving on the floor.
Maintenance Management:
- Develops an environment that empowers employees to understand the root cause of issues and to drive sustainable solutions that eliminate unplanned stoppages.
- Develops & implements robust PM process along with optimization & management of spare parts
- Conducts performance evaluations, coaching sessions, and floor, observations to identify development and training needs.
- Provides the environment to ensure all employees are sufficiently trained to perform their duties and continue career growth to meet the future growth needs of the department and Lief
- Partners with operations, engineering, and other internal/external resources to solve complex problems and drive efficiency in the factory's operation.
- Actively develops and manages the maintenance budget. Provides approvals of needed maintenance and repair items. Provides oversight for maintenance-related contract services.
- Leads the development of tool room & supporting capabilities
Safety and Environmental:
- Follow factory safety & environmental objectives & targets
- Follow the plant safety rules; report incidents & unsafe conditions immediately
- Maintain compliance with regulations and refer to the Safety & Environmental Management System(s) on all related procedures and programs.
- Understand the environmental aspects of the position and take action to reduce these environmental impacts by conserving paper, electricity, water, etc. Will also recycle all appropriate materials.
Quality:
- Follow factory food safety, quality objectives & targets
- Follow Lief Good Manufacturing Practices; report food safety and quality issues immediately.
- Maintain compliance with regulations and refers to Lief Quality Management System on all related procedures and programs.
- Understand the food safety and quality aspects of the position as indicated on QMS and SOP's that apply.
Team Leadership:
- Provides the Maintenance leadership for the plant & maintains a close working relationship with peers & corporate partners.
- Provides both strategic and tactical leadership to the change management process to ensure the system maintains proper change management to meet regulatory requirements with methods that can be practically executed by the technical staff at a reasonable cost to Lief.
- Ensures that skilled personnel is always available to meet technical business requirements.
- Provides leadership, direction, and coaching to members of Maintenance Staff as well as other staff members as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge
- Minimum of 10 years in industrial maintenance with supervisory experience of maintenance engineers
- Adept at problem-solving and identifying the root causes to implement preventative methods
- Ability to plan and manage a budget
- Ability to work within a 24/7 plant operations facility.
- Should have developed and implemented a successful PM program,
- Be a strategic thinker with the confidence to make decisions that impact safety, uptime, and productivity
- Ability to coach and develop talent to create a highly productive, safety-conscious team
- Strong communication skills with the ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization
- Microsoft Suite proficient, with advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP by Design) preferred.
- Bilingual communication skills are a plus
