UNIT SUMMARY: The Peds Remote Anesthesia (CDC) unit is a fast-paced environment, where nurses are an active participant in pediatric patients’ experience. Nurses in the CDC provide care for a diverse population of patients ranging in age from infants to teenagers, and have experience dealing with different forms of procedures and multiple surgical specialties. In the unit, pre-anesthesia screening services (PASS) include comprehensive preoperative anesthesia screenings, and preoperative prep for patients. PASS nurses also provide any necessary educational resources to patients and their family members and facilitate communication with the anesthesia and surgical teams. It is imperative that staff members are able to think critically, and have strong assessment, intervention and communication skills. In the CDC, teamwork and exceptional customer service are essential in achieving successful patient outcomes.
JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the patient care team, the RN provides safe, age appropriate patient care and functions as an advisor and resource for patients and their families.
REQUIREMENTS: Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college); requires knowledge of a specialized field. Associate's degree in Nursing (AA) or Diploma in Nursing. At least 1 – 3 years of Pediatric RN experience preferred. RNs with Peds ER or Peds Surgery experience are highly preferred. Maryland Registered Nurse License, American Heart Association CPR Certification, PALS.
