Job Summary:

Looking for a self-motivated individual who can work independently to manage and oversee the cord blood program at Deaconess Women's Hospital. The person is to provide supervision to cord blood techs along with training and assisting with collections. The person will be responsible for consenting expected mothers, coordinating with the cord blood tech who will be assisting in consenting, collecting, and packaging tissues. The person will also be responsible for ensuring the nursing staff is educated and informed of the program as well as developing professional relationships with nursing and hospital staff. The manager will be responsible for making sure the staff has completed and followed SOPs, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements of Life Line Stem Cell.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Self-motivated person who can work independently, with the ability to manage a team and communicate instructions to the employees.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Educate nursing staff and attend huddle meetings with the nursing staff
  • attend staff meetings to educate and update nursing staff on the program
  • Meet and collaborate with Nursing managers on the cord blood program
  • Schedule the staff to make sure all work hours are covered.
  • Customer service skills to communicate with parents, doctors, and nurses.
  • Participate and assist in all training. The training supervisor is to spend time with each new tech before they are signed off to work alone. He/she must observe all final training before signing the new tech off.
  • This position requires someone who can pay attention to details when performing bi-weekly stats on your techs and meet with them to discuss/ motivate if they are not meeting their expected goals and celebrate those that are meeting the goals.
  • Possess an outgoing personality to build relationships with the nurses in L& D and post-partum.
  • Complete performance reviews for Cord Blood Techs. This includes putting the correct calculations from the tracking report and the paperwork error sheets.
  • Sign off on new policies to ensure knowledge of new policies, as well as confirmation that training is performed on the policies pertaining to recovery.
  • Random review of the charts to be sent to the office. You should review 50%- 70% of your hospital's charts for completions.
  • It is your responsibility to make sure that you and your tech follow the attendance policy. It is your responsibility to update the attendance tracking sheet, and then call the regional manager when a CARE form is needs to be completed. You should make sure that when your staff is out of excused absence you review the attendance and Tardy policy with them.
  • Perform all duties as it pertains to the Cord Blood Tech and all other work duties as assigned.
  • Make sure that supplies and inventory are ordered in a timely manner.
  • Participate in interviews for open Cord Blood Tech positions at your hospital. Document the result and send recommendations for hire to Human Resources Assistant.

Qualifications:

Management Experience

Associate degree required. Bachelor's degree (desired)

Management experience

Previous healthcare experience required

Previous acute care, triage, or nursing experience (desired)

Looking for LPN, RN, CST, Paramedic, Healthcare administrator, or equivalent degrees

Proven experience in training and educating.
