Position Summary: The Food Service Coordinator works with volunteers to serve hot breakfast and lunch to clients. The Coordinator does light cooking, food pick up from partners, and manages volunteers. This position will cross train with food service operations and will assist with other food service functions as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Frequent interaction and positive communication with community volunteers to serve hot breakfast and lunch 5 days a week.
- Frequent interaction and positive communication with clients who use LifeMoves services.
- Coordinate and pick up food from local donors including corporations, restaurants, and faith-based groups.
- Cook using food bank product and other donations to supplement the efforts of volunteers and donated prepared foods.
- Ensure all food donations are properly handled and stored.
- Participate in menu planning for nutritionally balanced meals.
- Adhere to program budget for food purchases.
- Oversee the inventory of food and supplies, including ordering and shopping at Second Harvest Food Bank and other established vendors.
- Maintain kitchen and food storage areas in compliance with all food and health agency related inspections. Serve as point person and communicate all updates on local food-related health and safety regulations, and participate in all food related inspections.
- Complete a monthly report of activities for the Second Harvest Food Bank and other partners.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Professional experience in food service a plus.
- Personal or professional experience working with the homeless or with mental health clients a plus.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, ideas and practices that promote diversity, equity and inclusion
- Ability to work as part of a team to meet food service team goals.
- Ability to complete food safety training and testing.
- Proficiency in internet research and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must hold a current driver's license and proof of liability insurance.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds safely.
- Must be able to pass background check
- Must be able to problem solve independently and work as a team member.
- Must be flexible, prompt and reliable.

- The employee is required to walk and sit frequently. The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
